A great way to enjoy Hautau is to start off with the steamed hot meatballs. Three types of meat - pork, chicken, and homemade pancetta - are put into a blender, then hand-kneaded into balls and steamed in a large bamboo steamer. Each serving contains four types of bite-sized meatballs. The main types are "Salt Standard" and "Dashi and Wasabi", with the other two types changing from time to time. The fluffy texture and the way each flavor completely changes the impression is surprising. Another highlight is that you can try Asahi's very popular beer, Maruef draft beer. Tartar Chicken Nanban, a very popular lunch set, can be ordered in different quantities to suit the number of people. The chicken thighs are marinated in salt koji until moist and tender, then fried crisply in potato starch, making for an absolutely delicious piping hot chicken! Each piece is large and filling, and highly satisfying. The Nanban sauce is carefully simmered to reduce it for a mild flavor. If you pour a generous amount of the homemade tartar sauce, which is made from mayonnaise, on top, the sweet and spicy Nanban sauce mixes well with the roughly chopped boiled eggs, making it impossible to stop eating. This is a sure bet for repeat customers, whether they drink or not.
