"Elephant's Ear" is a deep-fried bread that is available at contract stores nationwide. It is modeled after a deep-fried bread made using a method called "Elephant Ear" that is not available in Japan, and through repeated improvements, the original recipe has achieved a new texture that is "crispy on the outside, fluffy in the middle, and chewy afterwards."

Apparently you can actually enjoy these "elephant ears" at "Panpakapan", so I rushed over to the store knowing I had to try it!

The special dough is thinly rolled out and lightly fried, then baked at extremely high temperatures in the store's oven to remove all the excess oil. This makes it so light and not at all oily that you'd never guess it was fried.
