Amami Dokoro Kou will open along the shore of Lake Yamanaka on July 2024, 7.
It opened on the site of Sobadokoro Kou, which closed about 10 years ago, and is already hugely popular with tourists and locals alike, as it is a rare sweet shop in Lake Yamanaka where you can enjoy delicious Japanese sweets!

The interior of the restaurant has a Japanese atmosphere and is open and glass-walled. With Lake Yamanaka stretching out before you, it seems like a place where anyone, from individuals to families, can relax.

The menu includes a variety of carefully selected dishes such as "Otama Dango" (large ball dumplings), "Oshiruko" (sweet red bean soup), and the "Matcha Set" which comes with matcha and top-quality fresh confectionery. The shop's top recommendation is "Anmitsu" (anmitsu with sweetened jelly), so I ordered it right away! You can choose between two types of ice cream, cream and matcha, and this time I chose the recommended matcha anmitsu.

It is luxuriously topped with fruits such as white peaches, bananas, and strawberries grown in the prefecture, as well as homemade agar, shiratama, warabi mochi, and more, so you can enjoy a variety of flavors in one dish. It is colorful, cute in appearance, and very photogenic.

When served with a generous drizzle of brown syrup, the gentle sweetness and the flavor of each ingredient are perfectly balanced!
The homemade agar is soft but not easily crumbled, and the smooth texture is perfect for the hot weather. The sweet bean paste used is from a local bean paste factory, and the moderate saltiness and granular texture are irresistible.

In addition, the "Matcha Set" which comes with high-quality fresh sweets that change with the seasons can now be changed to chilled matcha, but this is only available during the summer.
