[ORIJIN COFFEE ROASTERY / Kofu City] An inorganic and stylish monochrome cafe opening on May 2024, 5

ORIJIN COFFEE ROASTERY

A pure white one-story house suddenly appears in the quiet residential area of Kofu City. This museum-like building is the ORIJIN COFFEE ROASTERY, which opened on May 2024, 5.
These so-called "inorganic cafes" have been gaining popularity among Korean women in recent years and are rapidly increasing in number in Japan, especially in Tokyo.

When you enter the store, you will find a simple, unadorned, stylish monotone space. The concept is "extraordinary in ordinary." It is truly an extraordinary hideaway, free from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

"I wanted to create a different space that doesn't exist in Yamanashi," says owner Kasai JeongJin. The old house's beams were left as they were, and a Korean friend was in charge of construction, and all the interior and tableware were imported from Korea. The ceiling and pillars are decorated with Korean washi paper, beautifully connecting the nuances of ripples of light.

Because Korea is heavily influenced by American coffee culture, Kawanishi-san was impressed by the deliciousness of hand drip coffee when he first encountered it in Japan. He mainly uses light roasts, but even dark roasts are refreshing, making coffee that "makes you want to have another sip after you've finished drinking it."

The coffee that Kasai roasts himself and is carefully hand-brewed has little bitterness and a clean aftertaste, allowing the coffee to express the original flavor of the beans.

To accompany your coffee, try some baked goods from Mochikana Confectionery, a popular confectionery shop in Kofu. Currently, the shop offers three types of goods: a salty brownie with a crispy pecan nut flavor, a financier that is crisp on the outside and moist on the inside, and a canelé that is both crunchy and chewy.

My favorite latte today is Brazilian light roast. It has a moist aroma, just the right amount of milkiness, and a light aftertaste. It's really delicious!

The deep richness of the canelé goes perfectly with a latte. The outside is firm and has a crunchy texture that I like. The surprisingly chewy texture is like a rich custard and makes my heart happy.
Mochikana Sweets is currently also trialing Yakgwa, a traditional Korean sweet with a cinnamon scent, so please look forward to its release!
