Old folk house Nakamura

Close to Kawaguchi Sengen Shrine, stylish noren curtains with a Mt. Fuji motif flutter in the wind along a street crowded with foreign tourists.
This is Kominka Nakamura, which opened on April 2024, 4 and has a shop and cafe. A large noren with the image of Mt. Fuji serves as a shop, and a small noren with a logo at the entrance is a cafe.

Oshi's house, which was built in the late Edo period and is over 150 years old, has a beautiful garden and a view of Mt. Fuji, and is in an excellent location! The tatami room on the first floor of the cafe has not undergone any major renovations, and appears almost as it is. Even just a single pillar has a glossy black glow that gives you a sense of the lifestyle that is unique to a house that has been polished and carefully protected by a prestigious family for generations.
On the other hand, the second floor, which serves as a co-working space, has been completely refurbished to create a mid-century style space. I think my work will go a lot faster if I keep this nice space.

There is no so-called menu book here, and it is a completely cashless store where you order by reading a QR code on your mobile phone. This is the ultimate in peace! Quickly grab a delicious lunch. From May, a new vegan weight is also scheduled to be introduced, so I'm looking forward to that as well.

As I was enjoying the rich expressions of nature on the porch, the long-awaited ``old folk house hospitality gift'' was brought to me. I love chopsticks even at home.& CRAFTSOf things! It's thin, fits comfortably in your hand, and is very easy to use. It is OK to take it home as a souvenir.

The cuisine is carefully prepared with a focus on local and seasonal ingredients, based on the concept of ``homemade flavors passed down from ancient Japan.''
In today's world where more people work together and are filled with conveniences, they spare no effort in handicrafts, even down to the smallest details, such as preparation and soup stock, which are difficult to do at home.

The roast beef is moist and tender after being cooked at a low temperature, and the flavor is doubled with a sauce based on Otsuka carrot paste! The rich sweetness unique to Otsuka carrots is mixed with the sweetness of onions, and the rich vegetable flavor wraps the meat juices. At first glance, you might think it's just plain white tofu, but once you take a bite, you'll find that it's also marinated in miso, and the elegant, mellow salty flavor fills your mouth.
Each and every dish was rich in flavor, and I was really glad I was Japanese.

After your meal, enjoy a cup of carefully selected coffee roasted by Fumiya Takahashi, who has won numerous prizes in competitions sponsored by SCAJ. Pour it into a bright turquoise teacup from a beautiful amber-colored teapot made exclusively for coffee, and the aromatic coffee will naturally relax your mind and body.
The roasting and blending is inspired by the aroma of Yamanashi's forests and lakes, as well as the abundance of fruit. It is dark roasted, but has just the right amount of bitterness, a pleasant aftertaste, and a chocolate-like flavor typical of specialty coffee. To accompany it, be sure to try the sweet potato sticks, which have an addictive sweet-salty taste, or the ice cream monaka, which is a crunchy monaka with a sesame-flavored ice cream inside.

The shop sells various Mt. Fuji motif items as well as tableware used in the cafe. In addition to products aimed at tourists, the show also shines a light on the works of craft artists in Yamanashi, as well as on things that are really great but don't have many opportunities to be shown and are unknown. This kind of perspective is unique to Kominka Nakamura.

For example, there are memo cards and Pochi bags from Enzan Factory, which produces handmade paper using paper cartons that would normally be discarded, without the use of chemicals. You will be surprised at the soft and supple paper quality of the card cases, which are individually painted using sewing machines by employees with disabilities. This place is truly a treasure trove.
It is full of things and things that Yamanashi is proud of that I didn't know about yet.
